With sweeping views across ancient olive groves through the Tiber Valley towards the Apennine mountains the south-facing cottage with its chefs kitchen, spacious lounge, Scan eco-wood burning fireplace, comfortable bedrooms, landscaped gardens and seasonal saltwater plunge pool provides the perfect year-round retreat. Whilst also being just a short walk from the centre of lively, Città della Pieve, A charming medieval hilltop town of Etruscan-Roman origins famed for its red brick palazzos, stunning fresco’s, excellent restaurants and extraordinary annual festivals.
Today home to celebrities, designers and politicians the town was also once home to Pietro Vannucci called “Il Perugino”, master of Raphael, and one of the most important Italian Renaissance painters.
And with a plethora of museums, artisan and boutique shops, an ornate theatre, buzzing cafe’s and farm-to-table food stores. Along with cookery schools, wineries and weekly markets the town really does offer something for every discerning traveller. Whilst also being just a short drive from some of Tuscany and Umbria’s most famous hilltop towns, world class thermal spa’s and vineyards.
The cottage and gardens
From the outside this picturesque cottage made of Città della Pieve’s famed red retains its ancient appeal. But the spacious interior was completely renovated in 2022 and offers a luxury, open plan format making it the perfect place for family or friends to gather, or for a couples romantic getaway.
Set over one floor with a full chefs kitchen, spacious dining area and lounge with its Scan, egg shaped wood burner make the cottage especially appealing during the cooler months. Whilst from June through October you can also enjoy a drench under our solar shower or take a refreshing dip in our 4x2m above ground saltwater pool.
Throughout the south-facing centrally heated cottage large, dual aspect windows flood the rooms with light and offer uninterrupted views of the spectacular countryside bringing to mind the famed landscapes of renaissance Italian artists.
Another comfort is the modern bathroom with powerful rain shower. And bedrooms with integrated phone charging stations, blackout shutters, plenty of closet space and high quality Egyptian linens.
The large, landscaped garden offers various comfortable seating areas in sunny and shaded outlooks where you can while away the hours in comfort. Or year-round enjoy a BBQ on our infinity terrace, Use our Weber system and dine al-fresco on our beautiful Travertine marble table.
Also of note is the elevated terrace garden with birchwood swing seat. The perfect place for either an aperitivo at sunset, or at sunrise for meditative yoga or pilates to the sound of birdsong as the valley awakes.
